Numbers 숫자

Two Number Systems 두 가지 숫자 체계

  • Sino-Korean: use for money (원), minutes (분), dates, phone numbers, and addresses — e.g., 일, 이, 삼

Emotions 감정

Emotions in Korean 감정 표현

Korean emotions are often expressed using 해요-form verbs rather than adjectives. Many emotional states end in -워요 through the ㅂ-irregular: adjectives whose stem ends in ㅂ (무섭다, 부럽다, 즐겁다) change that ㅂ to 우, giving 무서워요, 부러워요, 즐거워요. Koreans also use the concept of 눈치 (nunchi) — reading others' emotions without them having to express it.
