Korean Letter Writing ✍️

Hangul has a fixed stroke order — top to bottom, left to right, one stroke at a time. Watch each letter being written, then trace it yourself.

🎯 5 Stages · 74 Steps 📊 Beginner ⏱️ ~74 min 🔥 Daily streak + real progress tracking
  • All 24 hangul letters — 14 consonants and 10 vowels — each with its own fixed stroke order
  • Watch mode animates every stroke in sequence, with numbered start points
  • "Write it yourself" mode checks your stroke direction, shape, and coverage as you draw
  • Trace whole syllable blocks too — 가, 한, 곰, even 값 and 햟 — not just single letters
  • Tracing works on any device: mouse or trackpad on desktop, your finger on a phone or tablet

Stage 1 · How Strokes Work 획순 원리

The Three Rules of Stroke Order 획순 세 가지 규칙

Every hangul letter is built from a handful of simple strokes, and those strokes always come in the same order. Three rules cover all of them.

  • Top before bottom — the highest stroke is written first.
  • Left before right — when strokes stand side by side, start with the one on the left.
  • Horizontal before an intersecting vertical — draw the crossing bar first, then the line that cuts through it.

One Letter, One Rhythm 글자마다 정해진 획수

Each letter has a fixed number of strokes, and each stroke has a fixed direction. ㅈ is written in 2 strokes and ㅊ in 3 — that is the handwriting convention used all the way through this lesson. Inside a syllable block the order is fixed too: first the opening consonant, then the vowel, then the final consonant underneath.

  • Opening consonant first (초성) — the top-left slot.
  • Then the vowel (중성) — to the right of it, or underneath it.
  • Then the final consonant (종성) along the bottom, if the syllable has one.
