Walk the full 5.7 km UNESCO fortress wall — took 28 months to build in 1796. Amazing views of the old city. The Hwahongmun water gate is the best photo spot.

30 minutes by bus from Suwon — a living museum of 260 traditional structures from the Joseon period. Craftsmen demonstrate weaving, pottery, and tightrope walking. Magical at sunset.

Zaha Hadid's futuristic landmark glows at night. The surrounding fashion market opens from 8 PM — wholesale and retail clothing at excellent prices.

2-hour journey on KTX. Book at least the day before via Korail app. Alight at 신경주 (Singyeongju) station, then local bus to the city centre (30 min).

Bulguksa Temple · 불국사

One of Korea's most important Buddhist temples — UNESCO World Heritage. Built in 751, it sits halfway up Tohamsan mountain. The stone pagodas Dabotap and Seokgatap are extraordinary.

Seokguram Grotto · 석굴암

15-minute bus above Bulguksa. The 8th-century granite Buddha statue inside the artificial cave is one of Korea's greatest artistic achievements. Serene and deeply moving.

Eat near Bulguksa then head to 황리단길 (Hwangridangil) — Gyeongju's trendy café street lined with traditional hanok buildings. Buy the famous 황남빵 red bean pastries.

Walk among the vast burial mounds of Silla kings — some over 20 meters high. Enter Cheonmachong tomb to see the original royal burial goods. Magic hour light is stunning here.

Rent a bicycle near Gyeongju city centre (₩3,000/hr) and pedal through the UNESCO historic zone past tombs, temples, and lotus ponds. The route to Anapji Pond is flat and beautiful.

Korea's only seaside Buddhist temple — dramatically set on coastal rocks with waves crashing below. Accessible by bus from Haeundae (40 min). Free entry.

Walk Busan International Film Festival Square — embedded with handprints of Korean stars. Gukje Market next door sells street food, antiques, and local goods at great prices.

Return KTX to Seoul (Day 5)
